Who We Are
Since 1995, DuPage and Chicago South Suburbs Habitat for Humanity has partnered with people in our community, and all over the world, to help them build or improve a place they can call home. DuPage and Chicago South Suburbs Habitat for Humanity homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With your support, DuPage and Chicago South Suburbs Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and for their families.
All Are Welcome
DuPage and Chicago South Suburbs Habitat for Humanity has an open-door policy: All who believe that everyone needs a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to help with the work, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views or any of the other distinctions that too often divide people. In short, Habitat welcomes volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds and also serves people in need of decent housing regardless of race or religion. As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International and its affiliated organizations do not proselytize. This means that Habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith, or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.
Our work today includes:

New construction where our houses and work processes are designed for their specific local settings and use locally available materials.

Improvement and repair of existing homes. DuPage and Chicago South Suburbs Habitat’s Home Repair Program offers home repair services to homeowners so that they can continue to live in safe, decent homes for years to come.

Neighborhood Revitalization responds to neighborhood aspirations in the community by collaborating with residents and partners to improve quality of life.

Habitat works alongside the families who partner with us.

Better, more affordable housing leads to stronger childhood development and creates the ability – and financial flexibility – for a family to make forward-looking choices.

Children do better in school and see improved graduation rates.

Families achieve improved physical and mental health.

Stability allows homeowners to make investments for the long-term.

Families are in a better position to seize new and better opportunities.
